Handcrafted Bee House
This rustic-style Bee House is designed for solitary bees to lay their eggs. Solitary bees are the unsung heroes of the pollinating world. Unlike their more social cousins the honey bees which live in colonies of 20,000+, solitary bees live their lives largely on their own.
And yet they play just as important a role in pollinating flowers as honey bees and are far easier to house. Solitary bees lay their eggs in the spring in cavities or tubes and then seal the tubes with mud. The following spring the new bees emerge and as they don’t have stores or a family to defend they have no need to sting.
